
Turkish Lahmacun
Turkish Lahmacun is a deliciously thin flatbread topped with a savory mixture of minced meat, vegetables, and spices. It's often enjoyed rolled up with fresh herbs and a squeeze of lemon, making it a perfect street food or a delightful meal at home.
Ingredients
- 500g ground lamb or beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 250g all-purpose flour
- 150ml warm water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon yogurt
- Fresh parsley and lemon wedges for serving

In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and yogurt. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rise for 30 minutes.

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.

Add bell pepper, tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens.

Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly. Stir in the ground meat until well combined.

Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and roll each into a thin circle on a floured surface.
