
Chicken Karahi
Chicken Karahi is a flavorful and aromatic Pakistani dish cooked in a wok-like pan called a karahi. It features tender chicken pieces simmered in a spicy tomato-based sauce, complemented by fragrant spices and fresh herbs.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 4 tablespoons cooking oil
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
- 2-3 green chilies, chopped (for garnish)

Heat the cooking oil in a karahi or deep pan over medium heat.

Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.

Mix in the chopped tomatoes, green chilies, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin seeds, and salt.

Cover and cook on low heat for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
